This diary has one purpose, and one purpose only. I have seen several comments lately that accuse some Edwards supporters on this site of myriad offenses. It has been painful, whining, backbiting, trollrated, hidden comment earning bullshit. Some comments have gone so far as to suggest that Edwards supporters are actually costing John Edwards some much needed Netroots support. Unfortunately, that is dead-on accurate.
We are fortunate to have a crowded talented Democratic field for 2008. John Edwards is one candidate among several. This abundance of good candidates should be a blessing. It should spark good debate. It should show that the party's ideological center is growing stronger, becoming more well defined.
I can't speak for others, and I won't give advice. I will say that I have listened to John Edwards intently, and I will tell you what I'm going to do, based on what I think he would do himself.
I will not be baited.
I will not trash other candidates, it is not conducive to good debate.
If I have a problem with another candidate based on political ideology or policy, I will back up my claims by citing the candidates record.
I will not whine. The Edwards campaign is about personal responsibility. That means no whining, ever. If I want to whine Dkos has a WYFP forum, I'll do it there. I would never want my actions to cause any Democratic candidate the support of others in an election, why should a primary be any different?
If John Edwards is attacked, and I can't defend against the attack with reason, honesty, and evidence, then I will likely have to look to someone else to lead this country. Personal responsibility. Personal responsibility.
